It's not hard to obtain insurance--I did buy some off eSurance--but matching coverage to covered doctors/dentists is a pain. Particularly if I stick with my current dentist [only one with significant history, and they did x-rays, which I'd just have to do over again if I switched, so laziness is a partial factor], but they've started offering a special "club" for uninsured--$300 up front for a year of "free" [or, I guess, pre-paid] services plus 15% off additional services. So my $660 fillings will "only" be $560 =/ but one of the pre-paid services costs $300 by itself, so I guess there's that.
And, that's at least better than C's "pay $3000 up front and MAYBE get half reimbursed unless your employer screws you out of that last month of coverage before tanking the company" [but then, he didn't go for ten years and had to get a root canal].
I mean, if I had work insurance, at least it'd be one variable removed and I could just pick from the covered providers, vs. weighing the cost of insurances covering who I want to use.
