4051: Rising Up

So there is a thing where the goal is to create 30 [New] Characters in 30 days, much like Nano for artists. Cool idea, but... I already don't draw the characters I already invented T_T

Just for Sketch Bet, I've drawn... ( a whole bunch, turns out. )

30 new characters?! It took me two weeks just to invent two and reimagine a 3rd.

To me, character creation isn't such a big deal, because I use my own version of the Manga Matrix thingie, based on what traits I need/haven't used in a while.

Making that character interesting is the hard part, I think, and not [as far as I'm aware] covered in the 30 Character thing, unless I missed a part where you're supposed to invent a backstory.

Well, if I don't do a backstory, I might be able to get half that number done, but still. :o
And really the background to me is integral.

Well, most of mine, if I were PRESSED to create a backstory, I could do it. If the 30 Characters thing was going to be useful to me, it would only be in as far as creating "crowd" characters, or other such characters that need to look believable for the one scene in which they appear. Seems like a lot of effort for what it's worth, though--as I said, I don't really NEED practice inventing new characters.
