I think one major problem with the bailout is that the people in charge of the companies that caused the problem are STILL in charge of the companies. While it is nobel of the government (And indeed I feel their job) to help the average ctizen spare their employment from loss, there hasn't been any mechanism set in place to either punish those who caused the problem or to prevent it from occuring again.

And while it can be argued that perhaps such justice is not to be metted out by the government, I counter that companies are often treated as "people" and if a person were to cause such a catastrophe they'd probably be arrested and charged with various crimes of fraud. So I feel SOME action should be done, at least in the best interests of the people as a whole.

Actually, two of them got severance pay of $10 and $12 million FOR DOING A BAD JOB, which is in one of those articles I linked/meant to link. Underlings who do a shit job get a box for to clean out their desks.

It's that kind of tomfuckery that's sickening.

Yeah, that's as bad as the ones still in charge making $50 million annual bonuses for the bad status quo.

Corporate governance is a disgrace; the size of these golden parachutes are almost insulting. To the shareholders more than the public. There's a serious disconnect between investors and management - a large part of which is because management is so clubbish, and often inclues both regulators and institutional investors in their club ( ... )
