I d/led Eragon, because I saw the end [twice!] at work, and I figured, well, the book prolly isn't all crap, but I might as well give the movie a chance before I get the book ( Read more... )

Let's see, Agree, Agree, That's a lot of money, Funny that he's working Pro Bono, The hair came out very well and detailed though I wonder if the lower jaw bone is too low, Agree, and Dunno where Yugi is.

My problem with Eregon parallels yours. I did love the dragon and how they rendered her, but that alone doesn't make a movie. Also, I thought the boy was a bit too whinny and thick headed for most of the movie. Why do all these prophesies pick the worst people to win?

My idea is a character who would love to be the hero, but the prophesy isn't his/hers, they're destined to be nobody. So instead of that the protagonist goes out to MAKE their own legend and they end up proving all the prophesies wrong by doing something great in their own right. :)

Eragon the book is a decent time-filler, if a bit generic fantasy novel. Eragon the movie is "Start Wars" with a "X-Treme Makeover". It's pretty bad even if you aren't a big fan of the book.

Also, the dragon takes months to grow that large in the book, and Eragon has to teach her English, and he also gives her her name. I saw that part of the movie and was like "WTFOMG"

Well, that's why I said, "I bet the book's actually pretty good, since it got a movie and only has the one sequel as yet." Bridge to Terabitha, also good, but the movie wants to be Narnia, and that isn't happening.
