The Silent Hill movie! It didn't stay true to the original story, which made me sad (among other things). BUT I really liked that they kept the music -- especially the ending song, which was the main song from the third game (♥). And certain monsters. And Cybil was pretty badass. :D
Also, so glad you liked the movie :D, was worried you wouldn't and would start hitting all of us who recommended it around the head with baseball bats. And I'm relieved I'm not the only one who had "look for handgun bullets!" and "JUST TAKE THE MAP" on the brain, although you beat me with the health drink point.
I thought about mentioning later that the final boss should have exploded of its own accord given no-one had any ammo, but seeing as the boss in question seemed more based on Maria/Mary of Silent Hill 2, I'm willing to let it slide XD. Hehe.
It does frighten me a little though that I was more turned on by Pyramid Head than He Of The Holy Arse in that movie.
"Cybil, look for more handgun bullets, there HAS to be a box just laying around!" "Take the map with you!!" "USE A HEALTH DRINK!!!"
I think my friend and I must have looked totally spastic to any outside viewer. We kept, well, pointing, waving and gesturing with our hands and cringing and whispering in huddles about how Cybil should check for ammo. XD
You know, it's weird, I've never played any of the SH games (and never will, as I am a raging pussy and suck at games any more advance than "Fight" "Magic" "Item"), yet I am becoming slowly but surely fixated on the world. I've read enough spoilers and seen enough videos on YouTube to conclude that this series? IS FUCKED UP. In a very skin crawlingly good way.
As such, I'm wondering if the movie would be a good way to immerse myself briefly in the world without the worry that Pyramid Head is about to pop out of a closet and sodomize me with his blade. Is this movie accessible for SH newbies?
I'd say it is. If you take away all the fighting and puzzles, Silent Hill's a big ol' horror movie anyway. Plus the movie's not so much a sequel as it is an AU retelling of the first game's plot, so it's all good. XD
It's good that you're feeling alright now! God, you poor thing, how stressful - is it anxiety about crowds or something else? While I think of it (since I've been such a lousy-flisty-person as of late!) how is the current medication going? Are we up-up-up- and away like Sephiroth in spandex?
I'm so jealous! The Land of the Kangaroos has to wait until August, so in desperate substitution for Pyramid Head I'll be sticking a shoe-box over my father's head and offering him a large fork. I'll make him keep his pants on, though, because this whole paragraph is getting far too Freudian for my liking

It's social anxiety disorder. >_>;; Pathetic, isn't it? And I wish I was! Been all sorts of crappy lately, but I'll deal. And how art thou, dearest Australian queen?
Maybe your father should wield a spoon? Pyramid Head's all dolled up like a chef. (...okay, butcher, but the fact remains that the apron is darling.)
I liked it! What are they saying was so bad about it? I know a big beef was with people changing the main character into a female, but I thought it worked better in this case. Destroying the game's concepts? That's a new one to me.
