Chapter 2 - The one with the memorable rollercoaster ride

One day later

As soon as the black SUV stopped in front of him, William took off his sunglasses, honestly surprised. The dark window didn’t lower, but the driver’s door opened and Gabe got out, smiling.

“Give me one good reason to get in your unexpectedly expensive car,” William said as soon as the boy was standing in front of him.

“I'll buy you cotton candy,” Gabe replied with his best innocent face, fighting back a smile.

“You know I don't like candies that much, right?” William arched an eyebrow, slightly skeptical, but clearly amused.

“But you like me,” Gabe objected, feeling oddly self-confident about the whole situation. He had been almost sure William wasn’t going to show up, but apparently he’d been wrong.

“You're cute,” William conceded, smiling a little as he rested against the side of the car, facing him.

“Then let's be cute together, today,” Gabe proposed, mimicking his position, then frowned as the boy laughed out loud.

“This is the worst pick up line I've ever heard, dude,” William declared as he shook his head. “And I work in a nightclub,” he added, catching a change in Gabe’s gaze. He wondered for a minute whether telling him that had been a good idea or not, but the boy didn’t seem to be bothered, just surprised.

“Should I feel offended?” Gabe narrowed his eyes without any real hostility in them.

“Very," William confirmed, then he straightened and fixed his jacket. "Let's go, sap.”

“What, you trust me now?” Gabe asked as he watched William get in the passenger seat without waiting for him to move.

“Serial killers aren't this cheesy, I'm safe,” William just said, then closed the door, leaving a highly amused Gabe standing on the sidewalk. “So?” he added after a few seconds, knocking on the obscured window.

Gabe laughed and reached his seat, smiling to himself. “This is going to be an interesting day,” he declared as he started the car, smiling wider than he had all day.

“I have a bad feeling, we should go at the carny as well,” Sisky muttered with his face buried in Butcher’s neck. “What if this guy is a psycho?”

“What if he isn’t, and we ruin Bill’s date?” Butcher retorted with a patient sigh, but stroke the boy’s back reassuringly as he talked. “It looks like he likes this dude,” he paused, sensing that his boyfriend still wasn’t convinced. “And he’s not a slut, he gets asked out a lot, but he doesn’t sleep with every one of them.”

Sisky straightened enough to look at Butcher in the eye and showed a little smile. “I’d be fucking paranoid without you around,” he admitted, laughing a little. “We could go at the carny tomorrow, you and me, no stalking.”

“I have to work,” Butcher just said, never stopping the hand on Sisky’s back, but his tone sounded colder than normal.

“Hey, is something wrong?” Sisky frowned, visibly confused by his behavior. “You seem a little off, you didn’t even mock me for the carny thing.”

“I just don’t feel like joking,” Butcher replied with a brief shrug, but the look in his eyes was odd, almost defiant, and Sisky’s frown deepened.

“C’mon, what is it?” the boy insisted, breaking the hug with a scowl. “What did I do, this time?” he continued, but Butcher didn’t say anything and just stood. “What, now you’re not even talking to me?”

“Why do we always have to argue about everything?” Butcher snapped and turned around, clearly angry.

“We don’t,” Sisky retorted, looking offended and a little surprised. “But there’s obviously something wrong and you don’t want to tell me, it’s not nice.”

“Like it wouldn’t be nice living with me?” Butcher spat, sounding more hurt than actually mad.

“Fuck, don’t start again with that!” Sisky stood as well, facing him just a few inches away.

“You don’t want to move in, fine, I respect that,” Butcher replied, trying to calm down, but his voice cracked a little on the last words. “But could you at least avoid telling our friends just how miserable you’d feel if you lived with me?”

Sisky instantly felt like a stone had been dropped on his stomach and he took a step towards his boyfriend, but Butcher kept glaring at him and stepped back, angry. “I’m sorry,” Sisky muttered, breaking eye-contact. “It wasn’t-- I didn’t mean it that way.”

“I don’t care what you meant,” Butcher just said, then retrieved his phone from the coffee table and turned. “Go to hell.”

“No, hey,” Sisky stopped him with a hand around his arm, then forced him to turn again. “I don’t wanna fight again,” he whispered with an apologetic smile.

“I guess it’s a little late for that,” Butcher snapped, but didn’t try to get free. “You always turn everything into a fight, are you trying to break up with me or what? Because you’re doing a damn fine job.”

“You don’t mean that,” Sisky muttered, unbelieving and surprised. “I love you, I don’t wanna break up with you,” he added as he loosened his grip.

“Then what is it?” Butcher faced him and took a deep breath, willing himself to calm down once again.

“I just-- I feel pressured, you make me feel like I have to take steps I’m not ready to take,” Sisky confessed, but didn’t look away. “But I don’t start fights on purpose, I fucking hate fighting with you,” he paused, then took another tentative step. “I’m sorry.”

“I have to see Chizz in half an hour,” Butcher just said, and Sisky felt his heart sink. Then, the boy ducked his head a little and his lips brushed Sisky’s. “Come over tonight?” he asked, seeing the instant relief in his boyfriend’s eyes.

“Yeah,” Sisky muttered with a smile and a nod.

“I’m still mad,” Butcher pointed out, then stole a brief kiss. “I expect ice cream and cuddles.”

Sisky stopped him and kissed him again, then nodded and watched him go, feeling a little relieved the fight hadn’t ended as badly as the last one. He took out his phone and quickly typed a message: ‘me=asshole, you=<3’.

Butcher replied a few seconds later, saying ‘cheesy, u can do better’. Sisky laughed a little and typed just three letters, ‘ily’, then waited. It took maybe fifteen seconds before his phone buzzed and the message said ‘love u 2, asshole, see u 2nite’

Sisky smiled and flipped his phone closed; he felt the urge to call both Butcher and William, but repressed it and just dug out his book from his backpack.

Later that day

“I didn’t expect it to be fun,” William admitted with a bright smile, bumping his shoulder against Gabe’s. “I’m surprised.”

“I didn’t expect to make it out of the ferry wheel alive, either,” the other replied as they headed for the booths not far. The sun had gone down a couple of hours before, and even though the carnival was full of colorful, bright lights, the shadows were darker and longer.

“You’re not safe yet,” William remarked, then hooked an arm around Gabe’s.

“Am I, if I win that for you?” Gabe pointed at a stuffed kitten in the Balloon Dart booth in front of them, joking.

“Of course,” William conceded with a cheerful nod, then looked at him. “But if you win the lion, you get to kiss me,” he added with a sly smirk, amused by the surprise he caught in Gabe’s gaze at those words.

“Consider it yours,” Gabe replied a little smugly as they reached the booth.

William let his arm go and took a step aside, silently amused by that sudden burst of confidence. Gabe paid the employee - a young boy with bright red hair who looked like he could use a nice, long sleep - for two rounds, took two darts and picked the last position on the left, checking the tips with a small grin.

The employee, Kevin, watched him with a slightly annoyed frown, but Gabe just ignored him and focused on the balloons. The first throw didn’t go too well and William bit back a laughter at the disappointed look on Gabe’s face. The second, though, went definitely better and the little crowd around them cheered when a yellow balloon exploded right in front of Gabe and the small piece of paper that was inside fell back on the shelf.

“Congratulations,” Kevin said with no trace of real enthusiasm. “You get to pick one of those,” he added as he gestured the wall on the left, where the lion was hanging.

“That one.” Gabe pointed at said lion and Kevin handed it to him with a wide, fake smile, then walked away to serve another customer without bothering to say bye. Gabe ignored him once again and turned, finding himself face to face with William. “All yours.”

“How did you know which side to pick?” William asked with a suspicious smile.

“I worked all summer in a carnival a few years ago,” Gabe confessed, not even trying to hide his amusement. “Big prizes are always on the sides.”

“Cheater,” William said, but laughed anyway and took the lion, while his other arm hooked around Gabe’s again.

“Bite me,” the boy retorted, bumping their shoulders together.

“I don’t bite on the first date,” William replied with a sly grin, inching closer.

“But you owe me a kiss,” Gabe pointed out as they walked along the line of booths.

“Fair enough,” William admitted and his expression didn’t falter, which made the boy feel slightly relieved. Gabe stopped and ducked his head, but William used his finger to keep him distant. “Uh-uh, not now,” he said, laughing a little at the confused look on Gabe’s face. “Surprise me.”

“You’re unbelievable.” Gabe shook his head and smiled, then resumed walking, keeping the boy close.

“And you’re not boring,” William admitted as they reached the last booth and found themselves in front of the roller coaster.

“Why, thank you, I’m flattered,” Gabe replied, rolling his eyes, then dragged him towards the entry. “Let’s see if you’re still a smartass up there.”

“Seriously?” William laughed and followed him quickly.

Five minutes later they were sitting in the front car, ready for the ride and William made sure he had a good grip on the lion. He hadn’t lied to Gabe, he hadn’t expected to have that much fun, and the truth was that part of him felt like a kid all over again and the other part was itching to get the promised kiss, for some reason. It was a bit overwhelming, thinking that he’d met Gabe barely thirty-six hours before, but if he wanted to be honest, he couldn’t deny it felt good.

As soon as the coaster moved, though, his train of thoughts was interrupted and he turned to look at Gabe, curious. “You okay?”

“I might be slightly acrophobic,” Gabe admitted with a nervous smile, then swallowed around the knot in his throat.

“What?” William’s eyes widened, genuinely shocked. “Are you nuts? Let’s get off this thing,” he added, looking around, but the coaster continued on the way up.

“Hey, relax, I’ll just keep my eyes closed,” Gabe said, bumping his foot against the boy’s. “It’s not that bad.”

William shook his head, unbelieving, and just before their car reached the top, he leaned closer and kissed Gabe. It was just the brief, playful press of lips against lips, and as soon as it ended, William grinned. “Focus on this,” he said, but before Gabe could answer, the coaster started the descent.

Two minutes later, as soon as the ride was over, Gabe propelled himself out of the coaster so quickly the employee laughed at him.

“You’re an idiot,” William pointed out as he reached the boy. “What kind of moron hops on a roller coaster when he’s scared of heights?”

“Me?” Gabe offered with a sheepish smile.

“You’re lucky I tend to like idiots,” William replied, walking them towards one of the food booths. “And you still owe me my kiss.”

“I won’t forget, don’t worry,” Gabe reassured him, laughing, then walked them to the stand, looking at the list of snacks and sandwiches. “What about dinner?” William nodded and dug for his pocket, but Gabe stopped him immediately. “Today’s on me, remember?”

“Fine,” William conceded, a little reluctant but not really annoyed. “Good way to spoil me,” he added, causing Gabe to laugh a little. “I’ll have a hot dog and a Coke.”

“Good, a hot dog, a vegetarian and two Cokes,” Gabe told the employee of the booth, then turned just in time to see William frown. “I don’t eat dead animals, but I don’t judge either.”

The boy laughed and shook his head, amused, then saw a couple stand from the nearby table and reached it quickly, keeping two seats. Gabe joined him three minutes later, holding his wallet with his teeth and their dinner balanced on his hands.

“So, you mentioned a nightclub, earlier,” Gabe started, as soon as they were both sitting. “Is that your job?” William nodded but didn’t say anything, chewing quietly his mouthful of food. “Why the subway, then?”

“I like it,” William replied with a shrug as soon as he had his mouth free. “It’s music.”

“Ever thought about recording?” Gabe asked, genuinely curious. It wasn’t just the crush talking, William really had a beautiful voice and he surely had the spirit to survive in the business.

“Couple of times,” the boy admitted with a smile, then shrugged and, as if reading the other’s thoughts, added, “But the music business kind of sucks.”

“You’d totally kick them in the balls,” Gabe pointed out as he made eye-contact with him, gaining a playful kick in the shin.

“What about you?” William asked, taking a sip from the Coke.

“I’m a computer programmer,” the boy replied with a brief nod, then took a bite from his sandwich.

“You play with computers,” William deadpanned, highly amused and surprised at the same time.

“I develop softwares,” Gabe corrected him, laughing, then added, “But my friend Vicky is into videogames programming, now.”

“Well, I guess not all nerds wear thick glasses and plaid shirts, then,” William pointed out, glad the boy had found his sentence amusing rather than offensive.

“We’re actually really hot, you know?” Gabe kept smiling, a little smug, much to the other’s amusement.

“I’m starting to notice,” William admitted with a sly, flirty grin, which kind of surprised Gabe a little bit. He was so sure that boy was going to be the death of him and not in the bad sense.

Butcher didn’t look away from the painting when he heard the door open, but a little smile stretched his lips when Sisky walked in the room as quietly as he could. Without a word the boy went to the kitchen, knowing better than interrupting his boyfriend’s work.

He put the ice cream in the fridge and sat at the counter, fighting the itching need to walk back and just kiss Butcher senseless. With a sigh, he reached for the magazine resting on the smooth surface of the table and started turning the pages, not really paying attention to the words.

When, a few minutes later, he felt a pair of arms circle his waist from behind, he let out a huffed laughter, looking down at the paint stained hands. “I like this shirt,” he muttered, but smiled when Butcher placed a kiss on the side of his neck, careful not to touch the fabric with his fingers.

“I’ll go get a shower, want to order dinner?” Butcher asked as he slowly broke the hug with an amused snort.

“Thai?” Sisky proposed, turning in the chair to face him. In the bright light of the kitchen, the tattoos on his naked chest stood out even more against the pale skin, which was rather distracting, in his opinion. “Chinese?”

“Pizza?” Butcher tried, pursing his lips a little.

“Pizza,” Sisky agreed as he stood from the chair. “Now go get a shower or no ice cream for you, later,” he added, pushing an amused Butcher out of the kitchen.

About an hour, two pizzas and three Friends episodes later, they were both sitting on the couch with a couple of beers and a Will&Grace re-run on TV. The screen was the only source of light, but it was enough to be able to see around the room. The atmosphere was way less tense than it had been when Sisky had arrived and the boy was grateful for that; he hadn’t lied, fighting with his boyfriend was one of the things he hated the most.

“You’re sleeping here, tonight,” Butcher suddenly announced with a light tone, but there’s was a shade of an undefined something that indicated it wasn’t a question.

“Uh, okay?” Sisky frowned, slightly surprised and definitely confused.

“Bill needs to get laid,” Butcher explained with a wicked smile. “And we don’t want him to go to this guy’s house, right?”

“Right,” Sisky conceded with a brief laughter, then waited for what he knew would be coming next.

“Besides, Butcher needs to get laid too,” Butcher said, nodding solemnly despite the amused look in his eyes.

“You only love me for my ass, ass.” Sisky punched him on the shoulder, then took a long sip from his beer.

“C’mon, you know Butcher loves you for your mouth too,” Butcher replied, dodging another slap on the arm.

“Stop talking about yourself in the third person, it’s creepy,” Sisky whined, gaining another unsettling smirk, then scooted closer and pressed his face against the side of the boy’s neck, taking a long breath. He smiled unconsciously at the familiar scent of paint, soap and Butcher, and once again felt a little tug at his heart for the fight. “I’m sorry for today.”

“Stop thinking about it,” Butcher just said, circling his shoulders with an arm to pull him closer. “The good thing about fighting is that we get to make up,” he added as he turned his head and waited for the boy to look up.

“Idiot,” Sisky huffed, but didn’t protest as he was being pushed down on his back as Butcher nibbled at his neck. “Wait,” he said, taking his phone from his pocket.

“Put that thing down,” Butcher muttered against Sisky’s skin, gesturing towards the object with his free hand, while the other sneaked under the boy’s shirt.

Sisky typed a quick ‘staying over at Butcher’s, see u tomorrow, play it safe’ and sent it, then burst out laughing and let his phone fall on the ground with a soft thud, just as Butcher tickled him.

“I thought you didn’t want me to know where you live,” Gabe pointed out as he stopped the car at William’s gesture. They were in front of a condo, not the best Gabe had seen, but quite decent.

“Well, it’d be hard to invite you upstairs without bringing you here, right?” William pursed his lips a little, once again amused by the surprise in the other’s eyes.

“Is this a trick question?” Gabe asked, wary and uncertain, but turned off the car.

“It’s early to end the evening,” William just said, shrugging a little. “And I don’t think I can get any less subtle, seriously.”

“I don't put out on the first date,” Gabe lied, then saw the ‘cut the shit’ look on William’s face, which meant the boy wasn’t going to fall for his words anytime soon.

“I do, when it’s worth it,” William replied, leaning against the door. “And I don’t like liars,” he added as he opened it.

Gabe watched him step out of the car and for a few seconds he thought he’d fucked the entire day up with a single sentence. But then he saw that William was standing in front of the main entry, waiting with a flirty smile on his lips and the keys in his hand.

Without a word, Gabe got off the car and locked it, then joined the boy just as he was opening the door. It took them a minute to reach the elevator and as soon as it moved up, Gabe pushed William against the cold mirror, kissing him. The boy let out a huffed laughter and kissed him back, trailing one hand in Gabe’s hair.

“Not really surprising,” Gabe admitted when they had to break apart in order to leave the elevator without bumping into each other’s feet.

“You have time,” William said as he led them to the last door on the left, then opened it quickly. “Don’t mind the chaos, my boyfriend tends to be messy.”

“Your what?” Gabe stopped dead in his tracks, shocked. “Wait up, no, no, stop.”

William turned and laughed at his conflicted expression, then circled his neck with an arm. “You really are a sweetheart, aren’t you?” When Gabe didn’t relax, the boy shook his head, moving closer. “I’m just fucking around with you, I live with my best friend.”

“Asshole,” Gabe muttered, releasing the breath he was holding. “Not funny.”

“Sue me,” William replied as he dragged the boy across the dark living room, then into the bedroom. “I’ll give you the tour tomorrow,” he added a few seconds later as he pushed Gabe down on his back on the bed.

“You have charming manners, you know?” Gabe laughed out loud and pulled the boy down, locking their lips together as their legs tangled.

They didn’t stop kissing as they struggled out of their clothes, elbowing each other a couple of times, with consequent laughter and curses into each other’s mouths. Once they managed to strip down to their boxers, William withdrew and looked down at him with wide, darkened eyes.

“Are you--” Gabe stopped, keeping their gazes locked. “Hell, I guess this is the part where I ask, you know-- fuck.”

“Yes, I do have a condom,” William replied with an husky laughter, then added, “And yes, I do bottom.”

“How did you--” Gabe watched him reach for something in the nightstand and instantly felt relieved. It’s not like he’d never bottomed, but it’d been way too long before.

“I’m up for both, but hell, you scream top from head to toe to me,” William pointed out, straddling him in one swift move, then dropped the condom and lube on the bed. “I like it,” he added as he lowered to kiss him again.

“You talk a lot in bed,” Gabe remarked as he spun them around, reversing their positions.

“It gets worse.” William licked his lower lip unconsciously and the other felt his own cock twitch at the sight.

“Vocal is good,” Gabe declared as he pressed his mouth to the boy’s collarbone, nibbling, while his hands played with the hem of William’s boxers.

He moved his lips to the nipple and teased for a few seconds, feeling him arch a little against the bed, then kissed his way down the boy’s stern and to his navel. He smiled when he felt a hand trail in his hair and stopped, muttering a curse under his breath as he looked up. William was oddly silent, panting a little through his slightly parted lips, but his half-lidded eyes were focused on Gabe, who just resumed his task.

The boxers were gone before William even realized it, too busy trying to keep his hips under control. He failed miserably when Gabe’s mouth closed around him, wrenching a low groan from his throat.

“Fuck,” William breathed out, then moaned at the vibrations of Gabe’s quiet laugher around him. His hand tightened the grip in the boy’s short hair and his hips bucked up against his will.

Gabe took his time to get him completely hard, alternating between bobbing his head and sucking on the tip, but constantly monitoring the boy’s responses. Part of him was still a bit freaked out about the fact that he’d met William two days before, but most part of his brain was too wrapped up in the loop of hothothotwant to actually give a damn.

When he let the erection slip from his lips and raised up on his knees, he traced William’s chest with a hand, feeling the tension in his muscles as he reached the nipple and pinched it a little. As a reply the boy arched again and brought both his hands to the only piece of clothing left between them.

“Why the fuck aren’t you naked yet?” William asked as he struggled with the boxers, while Gabe just laughed a bit, breathless, and helped him.

Once he was naked too, he saw William reach for the condom and open it with slightly shaky hands. Gabe closed his eyes as the boy slid it on his cock, then took the lead, pushing him down on his back again. William pulled him down as well, kissing him again as he felt Gabe’s fingers stroke his cock a couple of times, just enough to tease him, and then move lower to fondle the spot behind his balls.

“Gabe, fuck, just--” William groaned against his lips, hurried, as his hips pushed down against that contact. “Give me something to work with, you fucking tease.”

“Payback’s a bitch, isn’t it?” Gabe’s sentence was immediately followed by a hoarse laughter that sent shivers down the boy’s spine and distracted him for a few moments, enough for Gabe to retrieve the lube.

As the first finger pushed in, slow and careful, William tried to relax, focusing on the puddle of Gabe’s warm, quick breath against his neck. When that was replaced by lips and teeth, he found the task definitely easier and one of his hands gripped the sheets, while the other found its way back in Gabe’s hair.

“Two,” William muttered as soon as he felt the rhythm increase, and Gabe complied with a pleased groan, pushing his own cock against William’s hip.

Gabe felt him relax quickly and resumed moving, nibbling at the underside of his jaw. It took less than he thought before William started squirming again, trying to get more and he added a third finger without leaving him the time to say it. In response, William moaned loudly and tugged a little at his hair, forcing him to withdraw enough to steal an open-mouthed kiss.

“Gabe, enough, fuck--” he whispered against his lips a few seconds later, then groaned when he felt the fingers slid out with a wet sound. Gabe shifted his position and as soon as he started to push in, William’s legs spread farther.

“Hell,” Gabe cursed under his breath as he slowly sank inch by inch, careful. “You feel so fucking amazing,” he muttered as he lowered himself on his elbows to kiss him.

Once he was completely inside he stopped, using all his willpower to stay still and leave him the time to get used to the stretch. When William cursed in the kiss, though, he withdrew and frowned, panting.

“I’m not made of fucking glass, just move already,” William snapped, bucking his hips as much as he could in that position.

“Bossy,” Gabe said with a breathless laughter, then pulled back a few inches and pushed back in, gaining a content groan from the boy.

He repeated the movement, going a little farther each time and soon he found himself building a quick pace. He brought his lips back to William’s neck, sucking on random spots just for the sake of leaving red marks on the pale skin, which the boy didn’t seem to mind at all.

It took a few minutes, but Gabe’s orgasm approached way too quickly for his liking, and from the way William was moaning into his ear - shameless and the hottest damn thing he’d ever heard ever - he could tell the boy was close too. He had all the confirmation he needed when William sneaked a hand between them and started to jerk himself off in time with Gabe’s quick thrusts.

“I need to-- fuck, Gabe, I--” William’s voice faded into a groan as Gabe changed the angle and finally hit the spot he was looking for, causing the boy to arch his back. “Do that again.”

Gabe complied and moaned as the tightness increased around his erection, bringing him dangerously close. When William’s hips bucked and he came on their stomachs without anything more than a curse as a warning, he felt his own pace stutter and just let go, thrusting slow and deep. It took him just a few seconds then he had to give up even the last trace resistance and came, buried in William’s body.

As soon as he remembered how to breathe, he pulled out and let himself fall on his back next to William.

“Damn, that was--” William panted, then chuckled and shook his head, keeping his eyes closed.

“Yeah,” Gabe agreed, laughing a little. “Fuck.”

“Again? Give me a minute,” William said and glanced at him, smirking. “Or two.”

Gabe laughed quietly at those words, then got rid of the condom, feeling his heartbeat go back to a somehow normal rate. He fell back on the bed and William pulled him in a slow kiss, shifting closer as sleep started to creep up on both of them.

The following morning

“Hey,” Nate said as he turned and found himself face to face with Alex in front of the nurse station. “No work today?”

“I am working,” Alex pointed out with a brief nod. “Research.”

“Really?” Nate arched an eyebrow, not entirely convinced about that explanation.

“I’m kind of working on a medical drama,” Alex explained with an oddly strictly-business voice, keeping an eye on what was going on around them.

“Don’t you have a consultant to, you know, consult?” Nate asked with a genuinely confused frown, looking around as well before moving his eyes back to the boy.

“Yeah, but I like to know what I’m writing about,” Alex replied with a little smile, looking at him. “D’you think I could stick around and watch you guys work?”

“Sure, as long as you don’t get in the way,” Nate conceded with a shrug and a brief glance at his colleagues. “Is it really useful?”

“I have a few questions, but Ryland doesn’t have much time, with the wedding and all, you know,” Alex admitted as he took out a little notepad and a pen. “So I’m relying on on-the-field research.”

“I’m not a doctor, but I can answer some of your questions later, if you want,” Nate offered, then realized just how eager that had sounded, but right when he expected the other boy to say something about it, he was surprised to see him purse his lips, pondering.

“In front of a beer?” Alex proposed without his usual smile, but there was still a sparkle in his eyes that somehow reassured the nurse he was still talking to the Alex Suarez he knew.

“You never change,” Nate half-glared, then gave it. “Fine, but it’s not a date,”

“It’s work,” Alex replied with a serious nod, every trace of flirting completely gone, much to Nate’s surprise.

“My shift ends at 6 pm, we could meet after dinner,” Nate informed as he walked back towards the nurse station.

“Okay, boss,” Alex replied, then turned to look at a couple of doctors walking by, trying to eavesdrop their conversation without getting caught.

A/N: so, here’s chapter two. With the NC-17 scene, happy? I think I know the answer to this. LOL Apparently, there’s still hope for Alex too, but of course I couldn’t tell you how it goes, you’ll have to wait next week to find out.
As for the soundtrack, if you want it, just say so in the comment and I’ll provide it. (I really don’t wanna have troubles with LJ, so I won’t put the link in the posts) Just, be aware that every song is played in a specific moment of the story and the moments are indicated in the song’s names, so it might contain spoilers, you’re warned.
What else? Let me know what you think.
See you next week. :D
