2947.2: BROKEN MY HEART
Ah, yes, and my folks are going to LA to see my grandmother, because she has a tear in her aorta, possibly from hypertension [high blood pressure]. =/ I mean, at this point, she's 86, and I really hadn't expected her to hold out this long. It's very hard to keep caring about people I never see--statement of fact, not dismissal.
But... she's my grandmother, and I do hope the surgery is successful. It also only reiterates my concern for health care coverage for the uninsured/high-risk: I don't think those who earn more should get to keep more, 'cause what about those who can't help themselves? Just let them wait to die? I know my uncles are doing the best they can for her, but if she somehow couldn't afford to pay for it, how would she be able to work it off, as it were?
I think most of us with a foothold in reality expect to die someday. We just don't expect to get OLD. Hell, I worry about it, and I'm THIRTY.
