Thank you for this!!! I suspect the situation is just as bad in the USA, or it would be if the big chain stores weren't dying off so quickly.

anecdata certainly suggests much the same in Barnes & Noble - but it will take someone with far more spoons than me to run any kind of survey over somewhere as large as the US :-)

With 20 surveys and 275 branches, your confidence level is 95% +/- 21%. So a 74% - 100% chance of being correct. Not too bad.
