Do people actually realise how dumb they are?

I don't look through STOMP unless I am given a link to a specific article, or if something really bizarre is listed on the STOMP panel on the ST website, but whenever I do, I am always engrossed by some of the articles-because they reaffirm my faith in the unlimited horizon of human stupidity.

One example is this article I saw the other day.  Let ( Read more... )

There's also one where this girl saw a row of military vehicles in a convoy passing her flat, snapped a photo of them and "wondered" what they were, where they were going, and are they taking part in NDP.

It seems like the phrase most commonly seen on STOMP is 'wondered'.  Always will have some idiot take a photo of something and start 'wondering' stupid things....

STOMP isn't all that bad.

I was told about this guy who wrote an algorithm for a computer to pull semi-random sentences from various books and articles into a paper that was later submitted to a certain rather famous biology journal. And got approved and published!

There are very very few publications that do background/sanity checks on stuff submitted to them. NYT is one of those!

Hey, this is OT but is Seletar a military airbase or is it civilian? I know last time it was military but I thought I heard some small commercial/ private planes fly into Seletar too? So how should I "label" it? I'm asking you cos you came to mind first and I don't want to call RSAF. lolz.

Oh glad to be of help! :)

Seletar used to be a former military camp and airbase but it is now a civilian airport.  The government is developing it into an aerospace park/maintenance hub so yeah members of the public can drive in anytime.

There are a couple of Army units left there, along with the RSAF Rotary Training Wing at the airport itself, but these are mostly confined to the eastern side of the Seletar camp grounds.
