winstontlchow will be pleased to hear that last night I finally started on the long-awaited Watchmen by Alan Moore.  I have resolved that I absolutely have to finish the graphic novel by March 2009 (i.e. before the film comes out)-having made the mistake with V For Vendetta (where when I was reading, I keep hearing V talk in Hugo Weaving's voice) and LotR (

That's good news :)

Doubt if the movie will match up to the novel; it's gonna be very difficult to translate the themes and structure of Watchmen into a 150 min film. But we'll see.

I have a feeling that they will turn it into a typical superhero film, with good guys vs bad guys.  At most it will be like the Dark Knight or Spiderman III, with just a touch of self-doubt on the superheroes' side.

Doubt that is possible; Not to give anything away, but the chief antagonist (if you can call it one) is someone you won't expect until chapter 10 :)

hmm... shall have to dig out my 10 (more?) year old copy of watchmen to re-read it :)

and c'mon, who are you kidding - these are NOT the shoes you REALLY want - you really want those lovely high heels dont you - ADMIT IT!! ;>
