I far preferred In The Mood For Love to 2046. I watched the latter late at night on a China-made DVD, so there were no English subtitles, which did NOTHING for my comprehension of the all-over-the-shop plot.

The only thing 2046 has over In The Mood For Love is the soundtrack; I loved the mournful violin score.  Cinematography was excellent though, if I remember correctly.
