I guess there were only crumbs left when the cookies reached you but the brown ones were pepparkakor. It's a slightly different recipe than the traditional one. Ours are called "Kungens Pepparkakor". We use this recipe in our family because we all don't like the extreme taste of the spices. You're only able to eat one, max. two cookies. We prefer it a little milder. So in the Kungens Pepparkakor you have e.g. less spices and some cream.
I laughed because I told my husband about this. He said "Pssh! You have the best gingersnap recipe in the world." and I said, "This one calls for cayenne in it."
He pauses... his eyes go wide... says "WE HAVE A NEW CONTENDER FOR BEST GINGERSNAP RECIPE!!!" LOL
Hee hee!!! :D :D I am pretty sure if we have a tried and true recipe, it's the best of whatever it is. We like to cook and we are pretty picky :D I'm always happy to be proven wrong.
We shared our spaghetti sauce with someone once and they were like, whoa. Spaghetti sauce. :D
omg, these recipes look fabulous. Ginger is like my fav thing in a cookie. I love the spiciness of it. I will have to adapt these to be dairy free (and alas, no cayenne!) but I am trying these as soon as I get a chance! Molasses and ginger snap cookies are never spicy enough for me.
