Yuletide

So, I nominated two fandoms for Yuletide. I have no idea how it even works, but I'm going to try this year. It'll be my only fannish commitment. Here's what I nominated ( Read more... )

oh gosh. I think I am going to be a yuletide virgin this year. I keep thinking - I do not want a holiday comittment but then I keep coming up with things to nominate. :/

Oooh, like what? I think I attempted to nominate something last year and then I couldn't figure out how to actually sign up. /o\

Oh, maybe I should put Underworld on the list...

Right now, I nominated calvin and hobbes, The Continuing Time series by Daniel Keys Moran, and And Tango Makes Three. I am thinking about axing tango in favor of any of the following: The Sparro by Mary Doria Russell, Jack of Kinrowan by Charles de Lint or The Matrix. Still thinking about it. Of those, the only fandoms that have more than 10 stories on AO3 are Calvin and Hobbes and the Matrix - the rest all have 1 or none. :) so, talk about the spirit of yuletide. Microfandoms.

We shall see. I will probably regret this.

Yuletide's awesome. I've never participated in it...honestly not sure about doing Merlin Holidays again this year, but I can't resist doing some sort of holiday exchange so I'm sure I'll cave. ;) I love how Yuletide has stories from rare fandoms.

I mostly look for stories from The Dark is Rising fandom (a favorite rare fandom of mine) -- there are always a handful of stories from that fandom for Yuletide. For less popular fandoms, it can be more exciting when a good story is written for it. :)

I cannot deal with writing any Merlin beyond finishing my wing!fic and not!PL. I am hoping I can write other fandoms though.

Merlin Hols is not allowing podfic, which seems to be my method of expression of late, so I can't sign up for it.

Nice to see stories pop up in fandoms you love!

Yeah, I've thought it over and I may have to pass on Merlin Holidays this year. Just with my new job, I don't want to deal with a story deadline and the stress associated with that. I've done Merlin Holidays for the last three years, so that's good enough for now.

I'm going to concentrate on an old WIP that could use some love...it has been put aside for long enough (2 years, omg oO).

That's a shame about the podfic situation and Merlin Holidays. :(

Yeah, it definitely is. It's one of my favorite parts of the holiday season -- seeing what comes out of Yuletide.
