Hunh. Interesting.

Some people are seeing the purple as blue. If I were to do the volcano, I could make splits in the mountain so the background could show through as rivulets .... maybe. Or just use of the colors for the lava flowing down.

So many fun ideas to contemplate!

Now I'm biting my nails, trying to figure out if a squid would be better (it would be easier) or if I should try to make an ammonite.

Go for the squid. I don't have much artistic ability but somehow a squid just seems to fit. :)

Another vote for the ammonite! What a gorgeous image and its geometry seems very suited to quilting, to me.

I've decided to put off the ammonite for now. I have no idea how to pull it off and I need to do it today (person is around tonight, so I want to give it to her tonight). Going with squid for now.

I've got your tree "done", but I feel it needs something else, so I'm going to think about it before I send it to you:) (Not quilted down in this picture, but it is quilted now.
