Just beautiful! Makes my heart swell. Although, the only stanza I cannot see in canon is Arthur/Camelot. His words to Mithian about his kingdom and all in it meaning nothing without Gwen will always stick in my craw...
I was really thinking S1/S2 for pretty much all of this. I had completely forgotten that moment with Mithian, it was so OOC for Arthur. Apparently I conveniently forget canon when it interfers with my head canon:D
Season 4 really was about TPTB pushing the A/G agenda wasn't it. I remember almost howling during that scene with Mithian where Arthur said that--and they presented it like that was a good thing because it was "romantic". Arthur was behaving like a mooning, infatuated teenager, unable to cope or function without her, snapping and threatening with exile the one closest and most loyal to him, and it was all to demonstrate his undying devotion to one person. Kings simply do not have the luxury of giving away ancestral lands that people have fought and died for.
The Arthur of legends always put Camelot first; Bradley has said he thought his Arthur did too. I guess everyone was wrong.
Apparently I've mostly forgotten what actually happened in that ep and only retained the bits I liked.
I totally see Arthur as caring about the Kingdom first. Well, I said in this piece. You can see I don't ship Arthur/Gwen either.
TPTB have diverted from so many of the legends, I don't know why they can't let this piece go. I wish she could have had a happy ending with Lancelot. I love that pairing in this 'verse.
