I like the last one in particular - the other two convey the physical closeness, but not the emotional connection that the third one does. It's not just the obvious existing relationship the men have, but also the lasting memory they (or at least Arthur) have/has about the first time they tried to ride together. A shared experience is a kind of intimacy, too. :)
Anyway - I liked this a lot. I think it might be my favorite of your things, so far. (Not that I've read anywhere near all of them, mind.)
I am starting to feel a little worn down with these because non-sexual intimacy feels kind of boring and asexual intimacy is so freaking hard to represent. I've been talking with some people about how to depict something that isn't there. It's tricky.
\o/ Maybe you will join us Merlin lovers in the end:)
I almost think I should try to write these pairings on motorcycles since that seems to be working out well for me lately.
Also, my gosh, I've been practically hemorrhaging fic lately. I don't expect everyone to read everything I write at this rate! I'm glad you enjoyed it, especially since you aren't even super familiar with the show.
I enjoyed these very much! The second one, especially, reminds me of car trips as a child, falling asleep against my aunt. So cozy and peaceful. :)
One question: for the first one, are you being deliberately ambiguous about the references to "home"? I took the first one to be Ealdor, but then the second one threw me. Maybe if you specified Ealdor in place of the second "home" it would make it clear (in an "aww" sort of a punchline) that Merlin's true home has become Camelot (Arthur)---if that was what you intended, that is! :)
Thanks! The first vignette is Gwaine and Merlin riding from Ealdor to Camelot, second is in Camelot, and so is the third. Right, Camelot has become home for Merlin. I will fix that too.
LOL. Well now you know, you can come prepared with the toothbrush when you read my fic. Occasionally I write something not fluffy (skip the rope!fic, but even that has a happy ending).
As much as I am a whiner with anger issues, apparently my brain is a very happy place. It's a big mystery to me.
I love fluff too. I want to escape when I read/write fic!
