Another crazy day

Dec 15, 2011 18:59

Let's just say that I had another day of hardly being home.  Tomorrow, I hope to be home all day.  Depends on if I can get out tonight to go back to the mall to get the cards that got printed correctly and swap them for the wrong ones.  Grrr ( Read more... )

I've seen Hugo. It was beautifully filmed but I felt it was really two movies, one about a little boy dealing with death and just trying to survive and an homage to the early films. I would have preferred it being more straightforward or editing it differently. Worth seeing but don't expect too much.

I was considering taking my girls to see it. DD1 has read the book. I will not see the 3D version. Good to know it's pretty to watch at least.

I saw the 3D version and it really didn't make any difference to the story.

With the exception of Avatar, I don't think it usually does.

Now I get why my friend is so taken with Gerard. He is awesome.

We borked the sound on the main computer, so it's too much of a pain to play. I can watch on the laptop later.

The trailer for that throws me off every time I see it because I'm like "BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH?! WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE IN THE STATES? NO, GO AWAY, WE'LL RUIN YOU AS A PERSON. LEAVE WHILE YOU CAN." All my British actors should stay in Britain where it's safe XD

Well, come on over and run errands for me and then we'll go see Hugo! I like this plan.

I like to have things to do, but when I'm not at home most of the day, this does not make me happy. Especially when it's days on end, as it has been this week. *thud* So happy to have all day at home tomorrow.

I spent yesterday at home marking, and will spend today out running errands. Days I hate are when I have too much to do at home and too many errands to run at the same time, cause then scheduling gets crazy. (My fascinating life.)

My daughter saw Hugo with her granny and loved it. It's doing really well, so I suspect it'll be around for a while.

Have you played with this before? http://snowflakes.barkleyus.com/
(I warn you---it's addictive!)

Heh. It's not worse than mine. Are you a professor?

This is good to know. Can I ask how old your daughter is? Do you think a 9 year old and 6 year old would like it? I'd prefer not to take the six year old. 9 year old has read the book.

I saw that. I am uncoordinated and can't get the scissors to work. Maybe I'll share it with the girls after school this afternoon.

Thanks:)

College prof, yeah. I teach English literature. :)

My daughters are 9 and 4, and it was my eldest who saw it. I'm not sure a 6 year old would like it. (I'm certain it would be too much for a 4 year old.) But I haven't seen it myself, yet, so I'm not a good judge.

It took some practice for me to get the hang of the snowflake game. The good thing is that even if your cuts are clunky, the end result still tends to turn out looking pretty cool. I'm sure your girls will have fun with it!

Ah, I majored in literature in college and got a Masters in Teaching English. I love to read. Or I used to. Before I got sucked into Merlin and started writing fic. I've still read almost 30 books this year (some are audio books).

Ok, we'll check out the snowflake game this afternoon, when they get home from school. Thanks. Did you guys try the draw a stickman? It's cute once or twice.
