Scifi and quilting collide

Any of you arty people want to help me design a quilt? I want to do a quilt of a crop circle. Here are a few examples. I don't even really know what I'm going for, but I love the circles and spirals and would love it to have a dragony feel, but not actually *be* a dragon, if that makes sense to you.

I know that several of you out there are ( Read more... )

Tangent: Do some Julia sets or other fractals look dragony to you?

I don't know what Julia set looks like. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Julia_-0.8_0.156.png looks vaguely dragony, but too complex to do in a quilt (for my skillset, anyway).

I would not be interested in fractals, except I might consider doing it as a quilting design, but not with fabric.

apparently this is a Julia set: http://www.lucypringle.co.uk/photos/2001/uk2001df.shtml

Perhaps a dragon's tail with the ridges in a design: https://www.fractalus.com/gallery-content/large/dragons-tail.jpg

or do a dragon with a kind of spiral shape like the Chinese dragons: http://www.deviantart.com/download/160747034/Chinese_Dragon_Stencil_by_beraka.jpg

Not so stencil-y, but you know what I mean

Oooh, those are pretty, but I was thinking something slightly more abstract.

I was doing more free associating this afternoon and started thinking about King Arthur flour which got me to thinking about the Pendragon Crest. Do you think I could manage something crop circley with that dragon?

Oh man. I didn't even think about that. Hmmmm. How would that work? I was thinking the circles would somehow describe the dragon.....

I'm thinking and thinking and thinking. And having fun. And not getting anyone dinner. Oops.
