Colin Morgan is a god

I just watched Island this morning and found it haunting.  Bleak.  And yet, I'm dissatisfied because I feel like I got the barest hint of the deep story that lies underneath it.

Anyhow, I'm dying to talk about it with anyone who wants to chat here.  There will probably be spoilers, if anyone cares at this point.

Well, if the book has inner thoughts, then I prefer it too! Talk to me about what you liked better.

Heh. Most literary analysis is crap, in my not so humble opinion. Authors often have a message they are trying to convey and literary analysis is a method for trying to discover that message, but it's deeply flawed.

Film is a completely different medium and what you can do on paper doesn't always directly translate. I didn't understand that very well until I saw Fantastic Mr Fox. Have you read the book and/or seen the movie? The book is amazing and so is the film. If the film had stayed completely true to the book, it would have been awful. They really captured the spirit of the book which to me is a truer telling than if they had actually told the story the book told.

As to the film being gentler, for myself, I'm glad for that. I think it's harder for me to take more graphic stuff visually than if I read about it.

Would love to hear more when you have time.
