I've had a busy morning

Jan 09, 2009 13:16

I had three and half hours to myself this morning during which I:
  • caught up on two episodes of Lipstick Jungle via hulu.com and folded one load of laundry
  • hit two grocery stores
  • unloaded the dishwasher
  • ate lunch in peace
  • made an appointment for myself for next week

sundry stuff

This is what kitchen timers are for. Lie down on the sofa where you can hear it. Nap, assured that you can't oversleep. Even better if you have one of those in-the-stove timers that won't shut up until you turn it off, so you can't even risk sleeping through a brief ping!

Every week when you mention Challah, I want some. And I feel a pang that I haven't made bread in about a month.

Which reminds me - have you ever frozen or refrigerated bread dough? At Two's party (1/18) I plan to let the kids top mini-pizzas, themselves. Can I make the dough in advance and freeze or refrigerate it until party day?

Oh yeah. You can make the dough the day before (do it in the afternoon or evening) and stick it in the fridge. It doesn't need too long to warm up before you can use it. Let it rise in the fridge overnight:)

I don't make challah every week. I really only do it once a month. Occasionally I will make it one other time during the month.

Really? It seems like every Friday, there's mention of Challah.

So - do I just do the one rise in the fridge, overnight? Or is there a second rise I should do, too?

Yep, that's what I do. One rise in the fridge overnight. No second rise. Or no official second rise. The dough always behaves just fine even if it gets a little over risen:)

Between the challah, the matzo ball soup, and the nap, I have a sudden hankering to be DD2 for a day.

Well, we haven't had the challah yet:) Still, I think my kids do have a pretty nice life!

Somewhere I clicked on that option. Do you need me to find the link?

Ok, it's under "edit profile" and then you click on "viewing options" and it's one of the things there.
