Oh, this and that

DH spent most of the day working on installing the new kitchen sink. Over 12 hours later it is still not installed, but we are closer to having it installed. And we have not been without water, so that part has been good. I am quite hopeful that it will be done by 5 tomorrow evening, but I'll even take 8pm ( Read more... )

Might the girls behave better when you eat out, if you ate out a little more often so they knew what to expect, and got accustomed to that? Ugh to the frustrations, though - Will's the same as DH when it comes to restaurants. I end up doing the lion's share of watching them/helping them etc, because he just sort of turns off the minute we sit down. It's annoying.

How can you wait 2 weeks between shopping trips? I find I'm going 2x/week, mostly because of perishables (meat, dairy, produce, deli ham, etc). I don't mind going grocery shopping, but I've never figured out how some people just shop occasionally without certain things a) running out or b) spoiling.

They might. I think it would have been better had I not had dh and the expectation that he would "help". If dh hadn't been there, I would have had the two girls sit together on the bench and not even gotten a high chair (which dd2 is notoriously bad about sitting in at home!).

I normally go once a week or maybe 8-10 days. I have milk and eggs delivered once a week and that has taken the pressure off. I try to have veggies in the freezer in case we run out and need to use the emergency stash. The last menu had really big dishes in it, so I was just able to go a long time without cooking/shopping. I wish I could do that every time! We don't do lunch meat at our house (no one eats it:P) and milk and veggies are the only other pressing worries. In the summer/fall, dh goes to the farmer's market every Saturday morning. That's wonderful. I feel like I hardly buy anything at the grocery store then!

Ray and Ryan almost went there but ended up going to Baha Fresh else they might have seen you. The kids tend to be al over the place at restaraunts, too, mainly because at home when you are done you clear your spot and may be excused. So they expect the same when we eat out and they get SO restless when we don't eat fast enough and they are stuck sitting (whether or not they have stuff to do, they get loud and antsy). I am so looking forward to eating out with them when they are ADULTS! lol.
And yes, Whole Paycheck does take your money VERY quickly. It's why I did Safeway this week.

Wouldn't they have gone to the one in Reston? We went to the one just down the street. Very convenient:)

My kids didn't eat at the restaurant. In fact, it's been my experience that DD1 doesn't really eat anything when we do manage to eat out.

I think you do what you can and eating veggies from Safeway is better than eating no veggies! Much better.

By the way, the pool ended up being closed on Friday. Did I tell you that? Very annoying that the beach entry section couldn't be used. In fact, no one was even in the pool when we were there! Argh.
