(no subject)
Okay, well thanks to C Regalis, I finally decided to update this thing …. with gossip about Callum Keith Rennie’s past lovelife *is shamed*. (Bear in mind, I’m still pretty new to lj, and technologically incompetent, hence no links.)
It’s common fan knowledge that he lived with actress Babz Chula for two years, and there have also been rumours he dated Elizabeth Hodgson, his agent/manager. I also vaguely remember someone mentioning he dated the blond girl from Purple Toast (which I have never seen, is there a blond girl in Purple Toast?). In an interview he has also mentioned that past girlfriends were painters or artists, and on lj Dayse mentioned having seen him at a HDRC concert with a hot brunette. But that’s pretty much all we know about his lovelife, (apart from *delete as appropriate* Hugh/Paul/Don/Daniel, obviously ;-) ).
However while waiting at the Doctor’s surgery recently I read an old copy of the National Enquirer (I know, I know, but lets face it I’m writing about an actors love life, and you’re reading it so we can cast no stones :-) ) that said Callum had an affair with Nicollete Sheridan while filming The Cleaner (they described him as a British actor and showed a tiny pic of him in Butterfingers, along with some crap about how Nicollette’s fiancé left her because of Callum).
Anyway this reminded me of a conversation I had on a Buffy board a couple of months ago about Callum. We were discussing Callum guest starring in Smallville’s Fragile and she mentioned having attended a Toronto convention with actress Stephanie Romanov (best known for playing Lilah Morgan on Angel). Stephanie said she was quite familiar with Toronto since she used to visit there frequently to see Callum! Apparently she met him while filming Due South (she played Denny Scarpa aka Lady Shoes in Odds) and they were briefly engaged. Stephanie said Callum proposed to her while they were driving to the Niagara Falls, but that it didn’t take long before they realised they had got caught up in the moment. She said their romance ended amicably when they both realised it wouldn’t work. The Buffy fan said Stephanie spoke very fondly of Callum and said he would always have a place in her heart.
Isn’t that sweet?! People who’ve met Stephanie in RL said she’s very beautiful and so nice and friendly, so Callum apparently has good taste in women (in least in this instance) as well as being, you know, gorgeous, and sweet and so perfect he can make even serial killers attractive… *EG*
It’s weird, Callum having been engaged makes me think of that Star TV interview he did while promoting Last Night (so around 98?) where he mentioned wanting to settle down. I remember thinking at the time that it seemed unusual since I don’t think he’s mentioned it in other interviews. Wasn’t Odds filmed around 98?
