Hehe... :) I'm glad you're enjoying Minecraft so much! Are you making a cactus garden? If you reactivate monsters at some point, you could build a wall of cactus around your house and lure the monsters into it, then collect the resources they drop! If you really become an expert at using redstone, you could even set up a sophisticated trap-door system that will catch monsters in a cactus pit and just funnel the resources to your workroom.

Just be careful about how much of a time-eater the game is-- it will still be there when you come back! (ugh... I'm not helping, am I?) :)
