Now calledmelovely Cookleta remix challenge reveals are up, I wanted to try my hand at making a DVD commentary of Counting Down to Zero for soverignthorn.

I’ve seen this kind of thing done really well before, and thought Kayla might enjoy seeing how (and which parts of) her original story Countdown inspired my remix; also that maybe my process might help someone else with

I am just fascinated to read how you deconstructed the original and then reconstructed your own.
I'm curious. As an author do you always find yourself analysing the structures of stories because you can't help but see beyond the storyline or was it necessary because you had this specific task for the remix.

Cook was asked once what his make out music was and he answered he didn't have any because if music is playing he loses focus and starts to analyse the music. Heh heh

I have no such devotion, or craft, but I do love a good story structure, and sometimes I come across fic that I wish I'd written :) I think writers do tend to read and approach fic differently? That said, I think I looked more closely at this story because I knew I had to remix it, and I wanted to play structural games with the narrative?

I know you are a very close reader, and like the deconstruction, and I'm glad this was of interest :)

I think it made me love your story even more too, bb. There were times when I was writing that I thought, "Hm, this is a rather difficult endeavour; maybe I should remix something less challenging" - my second choice was your ghost story, actually?

But I'm glad I persevered, because it was very rewarding, and I am even gladder that you liked what I did with your awesome story :DDD
