Post: I really can't stay, I've got to go away (baby, it's cold outside)

I shouldn't be here; I'm gearing up for weekends and weeks of work and more work. But, oh, fandom is beguiling me with roaring fireplaces and wine, holding my hands and harmonising with me and exhorting me to stay :)

Case in point: how utterly charming is GLEE's Chris Colfer/Darren Criss, and this Doris Day/Dean Martin duet? SO CHARMING. Cute and ( Read more... )

I've always loved Baby it's Cold Outside. The sweetest seduction song. I've not seen that episode of Glee yet cause we run weeks behind. I will certainly give kudos to Glee for getting a gay teen romance on prime time. I hope all those kids who watch grow up to be tolerant. I'm amazed actually that the Parents League or some such isn't up in arms.

Yes! As a song, it's charming and adorable and smart - unlike many of the much more blatant songs of a more modern era :)

And, actually, we've just only started Season Two here, so I am watching this stuff from the internets and people's LJs. From what I know, Blaine/Kurt are taking it very very slowly - atm it's more a friendship plus than an actual romance, though the writers will probably take it in that direction (slowly). IA the show is pretty brave and out there, though, and kids are indeed loving it :)

Awwww, love that duet SO MUCH. Seriously, I love Glee so much more since Darren showed up. Everything about him just makes me smile. I don't know how/if it's going to work out with him and Kurt, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE him as a character so much regardless and I hope he stays forever ♥

And look at these other goodies! Loved ALW night so much. Also known as the one night Archie changed it up and Cook sang it straight. WHERE IS THE COOKLETA PHANTOM AU THOUGH?

Darren is gorgeous and has an amazing voice, and I love how Blaine is so open and full-on intense with Kurt, in a way that's gallant and courteous at the same time? He's awesome, I totally hope he stays!

Ahaha, the night Arch changed it and Cook sang it straight - how I adored that! I remember someone writing canonfic of ALW night (who's since taken her fic down :( ), but I haven't seen a full-on Cookleta Phantom AU and would absolutely second the call for one ;)

I have put out this call many a time (okay, like, twice now). x_heterophobic swears she's working on one, so there's hope!

Heh, I'll believe it when I see it, Carolyn :)

It's a problematic story in many ways - scarred Gothic virtuoso stalks and kidnaps underage girl, killing friends and stagehands in the process, before he's hunted down and redeemed by goodness and love - it's only romantic because of the music and the intensity (the unhinged serial killer bit not so much). I love a good redemption arc story more than any other trope in the world, but this needs more sell than I, at least, can give :)

I was saying to Stacy, it's hard to do a Phanton AU without straying into the land of underage Stockholm Syndrome! But, there'd totally be a hot couple of scenes, involving these two songs :)

I miss you, Nitya, and I hope so too!

Wow, this is like playing a game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Go from the Glee Christmas episode and then end with David Cook singing Broadway. Voila! =)

Oh, I'm on this new fic kink: Kurtofsky. I know, I know, it's bad but I adore Max Adler so redemption fics for Dave Karofsky.

Haha, true story: I was in NYC in the summer of 1998, and having breakfast in a chi-chi diner called Sarabeth's on the Upper East Side with Hub and some lawyer friends. Who should walk in but Mr. Bacon! Black tee, black jeans, dark glasses, unmistakable face. He hid behind his copy of the NYT and huge fried breakfast :)

I was then too shy to march over and gush about how I loved him in "Footloose", also, the dude was eating, and everyone in the diner was ignoring him in jaded New Yorker fashion. So I just sat and watched him eat :) And my Bacon score became zero :)

I adore redemption arcs, and have no problems with Kurtofsky! Any good fic to recommend that actually deals with the canon and self-hate, rather than just going to the PwP?

There are some issues with grammar & spelling but I like the overall story. It's them hooking up in college and it's adorable hateyou/likeyou romcom.
