At 6:12 and 6:21 two of my friends posted about Arisia. I know it's in Boston and it's held the same weekend as the Mystery Hunt, but what is it? I could look it up, but nah. You tell me.
I figured it was sci-fi but I didn't know if it was sci-fi/fantasy or just sci-fi or something else and people are easily offended.
I don' t know about now, but in 1996 "huge-ass" hadn't yet made it to England. I told my co-workers they needed a "huge-ass screwdriver" to open the back of a car radio and one said, "a huge arse whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"
Arisia's got everything. I've got friends who run sci-fi LARPs there, friends who sell their bone jewelry there, and friends who dress up as fairies there.
I hope you spread the gospel of *-ass across Britain?
Plus, it's at the Hyatt which is just west of Westgate, and since my wife and kids enjoy SF cons, and since it's the same weekend as Hunt, the logistics work out really well. I basically spend Shabbat with them there, and the rest of the weekend on campus Hunting.
Oh, and this year's Guest of Honor at Arisia is an author named Hunt.

Of course I spread my ass all across Britain. It didn't sing gospel, though.
