Nipping Out To Collect The Quinoa From The Garden..!

That title is actually accurate! Quinoa is also possibly the most pretentious (or as they say in Manchester 'Chorlton') thing I've ever eaten. I had it today for the first time and it's pretty underwhelming. I'm not ashamed to admit that until the other week, I still thought it was pronounced 'Quinn-o-a', not 'Keen-waa ( Read more... )

Quinoa doesn't do anything, does it? Just sits there looking like fat rice not tasting of anything. I think an urban fox with any moxy about him or her would go through the bins first to see what else is happening, or at least find something to flavour it with.

Nope, I was really unimpressed with it. I was thinking earwax Rice Krispies! I can see why it's big with folks who can't/won't eat meat, as they have already ruled out a lot of options with taste!

Yeah, the smart urban fox would definitely have snaffled the remainder of our prissy Persian cat's last meal that she's turned her nose up at instead!

Mmmm, delicious quinoa! I thought it was delicious! I'm going to make you eat it until you start liking it.

not a huge quinoa fan either, really. but like any rice-like thing, it becomes mostly edible if i douse it with spices/condiments/sauces or bury it underneath more delicious things so that i don't really have to focus on the fact that i'm eating it.

the best quinoa i've had was a greek-salad recipe. basically just greek salad (traditional style, no lettuce) with quinoa dumped into it. kind of pointless though. should have just had the regular salad.

That is very true. I think that even mounds of flavours being poured over it would disguise the texture of it, yeuch.

Cheers, I'm open for suggestions on how to make it, I don't think it's going away from where I'm living in the near future..!

it was popular here with the hippy types for a bit but it seems to have died down. is there a quinoa craze going on in your area right now?

I just live near a 'rich-hippy' area, so there's plenty of it about...
