Also, outsourcing can take some unusual paths when it comes to software companies. The market for .NET components or VCL components is huge, and a large part of these come from eastern Europe and Asia. A company that buys them is, technically, outsourcing that aspect of their code.

SOA doesn't make this any easier... does it matter if the service you're taking advantage of is in Toronto, Las Vegas, London or Tel Aviv? Probably, but who can tell? Is it always clear?

Bought a Gateway2000 PC 1990 and found a label
in the back panel "ASSEMBLED IN THE U.S.A.". A term PC manufacturer is a bit misleading, they're just VAR's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Value-added_reseller) using of the shelf components. Or has HP or Dell something original in their models,except a case, which makes upgading difficult?
