Having recently touted The Secret of Kells, you are aware, I presume, that the medieval copyist's cat portrayed in that film is a historical figure-- though he actually lived in Germany, not at Kells.

I am told that the Gaelic poem about Pangur Bán typically turns up in Irish classroms; we also hear it recited over the credits of the film.

No! I didn't know that, and never thought to look. I did look up Aisling, because to me she seemed a tween female version of the Green Man, though the white wolf thing threw me off. Celtic mythology is more complicated than I thought.
