  • I'm a day late and a shamrock short, but I want to endorse an obscure but wonderful animated film with connections to St. Patrick's Day: The Secret of Kells . It's a fantasy about the creation of the Book of Kells, drawn in the style of Medieval illuminated manuscripts.

A GoPro? Check the SD card and find the owner (or sell it to me!) ext_1708339 March 19 2013, 19:25:55 UTC
That's not a bad find, especially if it's really an HD or v 3. It should have an SD card containing MP4 videos that might give a clue to its owner (maybe a high-altitude balloon project?).

If you don't want it, I'll take it off your hands! They're perfect carry-along cameras for diving ;-)

There's some completely unenlightening footage of a parking lot at the trailhead of a popular local bike trail. I think the chap didn't know that the camera was already on, and then when he hit the button to begin recording, it stopped recording. That's the only thing I can figure, since there's no video of the bike actually moving. There was only that one file on the SD.

I've since found the documentation PDF online, and have figured out how the cam works. The case is watertight, and we're hoping to go to the Caymans this summer for Carol's 60th birthday. That would allow me to take movies underwater, which I've never done. There's plenty to see in the Caymans (we were there for our honeymoon in 1976) so it's kind of a fortuitous find.

There's a lesson here. When you acquire a new camera, or a new SD card, as the first picture take a photo of yourself holding a sign that says "THIS DEVICE BELONGS TO JEFF DUNTEMANN. PLEASE CONTACT ME AT..."

Remember the semi-underwater films you made in Miami Beach in 1977?
