We will not solve our insatiable need for energy with any one big answer. It is the myriad small solutions that will save us. Unfortunately, Americans don't tend to think small. And small solutions don't make big money. I hope we learn in time. GHR
Burning food for fuel is nuts, especially given the huge quantities of fuel we burn to grow our food, but extracting fuel from the byproducts (straw, corncobs, manure, sawdust, whatever) already being produced seems worth very serious scrutiny. (I'm neither a farmer nor a process chemist.) It's an opinion which seems, at long last, to be slowly coming in from the cold. Can't get under way too soon for me.
