fanfic tiem: Echo/Narcissus

Before I pop off to the library, have some (short) fanfic. I swear I am addicted to writing Leoben - probably because he is so easy to make poetic, being such a weirdo. I'm sad he didn't get much screentime in 4.5.

I had actually written most of this before I got the Echo/Narcissus inspiration. I hadn't quite realised I'd written a very similar ( Read more... )

That was lovely. Poor Leoben, makes me want to pet him or shake him and tell him to live for now. The other side will always be there. But I got a feeling this Two wouldn't listen. All he can hear is Kara.

Yeah he got a little bit fixated! I would hope there were some Twos who moved on, though. Maybe enough to make some little Leobens?

So pretty my eyes glazed over. Quite unsettling, too. I loved the mythological references - it all fits together nicely with Leoben's obsession over water. I'm going to add this to my delicious:)

Thanks for reading :) I am in the middle of revising for my Classics finals so I think the mythology is unavoidable for me at this point!

The way that birds tracked across the sky, the shape of clouds and the colour of the sunset: these were the new prophecies that spoke of days filled with rain and scented with churned earth and a damp home; of the herd moving across the river where the humans cut them down; of the ground shifting beneath his feet.

I LOVE Leoben the hermit and recluse, reading nature in such a tangible and still mystical way. How much of and in the place he seems, like he's finally found a place to belong.

He is a very shamanistic figure so I could definitely see him fitting into a stone age lifestyle. Weirdly I see Earth as more of a refreshing challenge for the Cylons, who weren't born on a planet, than the humans (who I think would struggle) - the Cylons at least have extra strength and abilities.

Thanks for reading!

This is wonderful. Everyone mourns Kara, even (especially) Leoben. Love how you tie BSG and classic myths together with the riverine imagery.
