Is this a show where people cook things and taste them?

I can't tell if that's a sarcastic question or a serious one, but it's like The Voice except cooking instead of singing. Including (sort of) the blind judging.

Right, only it's even better than The Voice, because on The Voice, only the auditions are blind; on The Taste, every single week's challenge is judged blind, because with food, you're able to taste it and not have any idea who cooked it. So what can happen--and what does sometimes happen--is a mentor/judge voting his or her own team member's dish as the week's worst.

Yes, although I keep wondering about that. At least the way they shoot it, it seems like the contestants stand about 20 feet behind the judges during judging, and whisper to each other and such. So I'm not sure how they can be sure the judges can't hear any of the rumblings. Also in the latest episode, there was this bit where after the judges tasted (but before they decided who got stars), they brought out all the contestants and Bourdain basically got to say "Well we have some hard decisions to make" blah blah blah. Since the contestants hear all the judging comments, the judges could potentially asses who's in the bottom by seeing who looks miserable vs who looks hopeful and smiley as Bourdain tells them his little spiel. So I've been wondering since then how blind it really is, given the setup.

(I accidentally submitted a comment without being logged in. I'll attempt to recreate it.)

I just marathoned the first season of "King of the Nerds" (season 2 begins tonight), and it was surprisingly good.

I'm usually dislike the "Big Brother" house format, but it works here because the casting is so good. The contestants are genuinely very interesting.
