Zekk doesn't particularly like helping with the younger children. It's actually probably one of his least favorite assignments when at the praxeum on Ossus. He'd take missions, hells, even working with some of the teenaged trainees, over this any day ( Read more... )

After the talk with Jaina, Tahiri decided that she didn't want to wait on Zekk to come back to Milliways-- they needed to get this sorted out now, as soon as possible.

Which is why she decides to go to Ossus and look for him. The first place she checks is his room; he's not inside, but it's obvious he's been there recently.

She debates asking around if anyone's seen him, but she doesn't want to draw too much attention to the fact that she's on Ossus. That also strikes out the possibility of reaching out to him through the Force. Hmmm, let's think about this... If I was in a mood to mope, where would I go?

... the gardens. Peaceful, serene, perfect for thinking. Probably out near the edge of the Academy grounds, if he wants to be alone. Tahiri's good at moving quietly on bare feet, but she doesn't withdraw completely from the Force-- she wants Zekk to be able to sense her coming.

Zekk chews on another honey wafer, occassionaly ripping off a piece and throwing it at the small lizard family a couple of meters away. He leans back against a rock and stares up at the sky.

He's sort of surprised Tahiri hasn't come for him yet. Or Ben or Mara or anyone Jaina could order around to check on him. Kriffing bossy Solo, Fel or not now. Zekk grumbles and throws another piece of the honey wafer at the lizards.

Tahiri should've come by herself. For Force's sake, he told her he vapin' loved her. And all it led to was another fight. He was getting sick of all those--

Zekk blinks as he senses said girl in the Force. It feels like she's approaching and he cranes his head to look above the rock and find her. Squinting in the sunlight, he sits there confused.

Huh, how 'bout that. She had come, after all.

Tahiri holds a hand up to shade her eyes against the sun, looking down at Zekk as he leans back against the grass. The play of light and shadow and emotion on his face and the soft breeze bringing a smell of late-blooming flowers gives the scene a detached sort of beauty. Like it's part of a dream.

She'd thought about the first thing she'd say when she saw him again. Something witty, something cutting, something that would solve everything in ten words or less and put things back how they used to be. Except now that they're both here every possible greeting flees her mind and she's left with only one word:

"Hi."

Zekk squints upward in the sun, his green eyes narrowing to small slits to block the sunlight from coming through. His eyes rake over Tahiri before he turns his head back to its original position.

He wants to say something. He should say something. At least a hi back, to be polite. But words don't seem to mean much to Tahiri. Or, at least, not the words that mean something to him. Otherwise they wouldn't be here right now. And they wouldn't be in this situation.

Taking a long breath, Zekk goes back to his honey wafers. He bites down on one and rips another piece to throw to the lizards. Only then does he finally look back up at Tahiri again.

"Hey."
