Disney's buying Marvel.

Why do I have a sick feeling in my stomach about this?

EDIT: Official statement from Marvel: http://marvel.com/company/index.htm?sub=viewstory_current.php&id=1343

Hm.

Well, I can see two good things and/or one bad thing coming out of it:

1) Disney handles the movie studio properly and allows the financing of some really spectacular Marvel movies. (Sorta likely.)
2) It keeps its hands off the comics, allowing the editors total control over content. (Pretty likely.)

and/or

3) Iron-Man wears Mickey Mouse ears in the next movie. (Totally likely.)

(I doubt anybody at Marvel will get the can or that the comics will change in content. ;P )

I will miss you. :-*

This also means that Marvel's licensing deal for their characters in theme parks just got about 100% scarier.

Well, that's the part that gets me. We both know how Disney is about their properties.

I mean, DAYUMN.

Yeah, going to Chicago tomorrow midday - packing tonight, etc. - and then Atlanta Friday. Might have SOME internet access then. But probably not. When I'm gone I usually don't hang on the web. WILL MISS YOU TOO PLUS STOP YELLING AT TICKY KTHX.

What I fear is just the way Disney runs companies. Not putting mouse ears on the Professor (though that makes me laugh) but just...uber-controlling.

That was the case back when Eisner and Ovitz were helming the place. Nowadays, it's Iger and Lasseter, who are much more lassez faire.

Ah, that explains it, as I was there during the Reign of Eisner.
