H4: The Alps: Aguille Rouge
some hikers (people hike all over the place, bike all over the place, of all ages...very sporty!)
the next day, we took chairlifts and a larger gondola up to the highest place we could get to, a peak called "Aguille Rouge"
(one of the views from the gondola; later we hiked down to that mountain lake)
it was like arriving at the edge of the world

it was pretty awe-inspiring
later, we rode down, then hiked around near a mountain lake, down to one of the skiway centers...
i still can't even believe that it looked like this...

we had "Raclette", a dish where there is a suspended wedge of cheese being melted by heating elements on both sides...you scrape the bubbling melting cheese off onto your plate of food; accompanied by a wonderful local sweet white wine.
