I get why it's important. But the emotions are still the same. :(

It is SO painful but such an excellent story element.

Plus Katniss is so fucked up and I love that.

I thought it worked well with the story and was necessary, but yeah, so so sad.

I completely freaked out over the ending of Mockingjay. They seem so close to doing what they have to do and then Prim dies. My jaw literally dropped when Katniss shot Coin too. The part that had me most mortified, though, is when the group of surviving tributes decide to hold another Hunger Games.

I think the ending worked really well but I did feel a little let down. Overall, it was a great series!

I feel that the ending to the story (the last third of Mockingjay, let's say) worked well and was appropriate to the characters and the direction the entire series had been headed. But for me personally it was too much. Too much sadness, bleakness, hardship, etc. I didn't like feeling so depressed at the end and that ruined the series for me.
