Opposites Day?

I've really been mulling over the whole Distress of the Privilege thing...how people view remedies for discrimination and/or addressing disparities as a form of oppression.

Some examples:

OH NOES: "[Straight] people need to protect the marriage, families, and children from gays and their efforts to access the right to marry."

What you are saying is very true a lot of the time. However there are a few times when women have lied about being raped. Most of the time they aren't but yes it has happened.
Also people don't like being made to feel like shit so if an argument is accurate but slams them they'll still instinctively say no. It's why nonviolence won the civil rights movement; and while most social justice conscious people are sane there are some really rabid ones who go over the line into racism (winterfox from requires hate)

I thought you were actually winterfox from requires hate and my heart skipped a beat with excitement.

But nope, just someone trying to explain why "nonviolence won the civil rights movement."

in hindsight, I'd like to apologize for my comment. It was tasteless. However, I do dislike Requires hate, both for her unpleasant behavior (she drove a person into attempting suicide) and her hypocrisy (in thailand she's one of the upper class, which is extremely wealthy compared to the poor, so she's benefitting from privelage.
