Doctor Who - The Underwater Menace

Finally, an actual episode to watch again! Loose Cannon's reconstruction of the missing bits is one of their best ever - highly recommended. I took screencaps from the surviving clips and Episode 3, and they can be found here ( Read more... )

Thanks for both the review and the caps-they're very helpful for those of us trying to decide which serials we really want badly enough to shell out for, and I doubt that the important detail of Jamie in a dive suit is something they'd cover in the back-of-the-box blurb.

That's mighty sweet of you to say! I truly appreciate it. I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews and the screen caps. Jamie in a diving suit is to die for! :)

I was waiting for this ;)
I have to say that "Underwater Menace" is one of my least favourite stories. I think it's just too silly but not in a good enough way to qualify as crack (like e.g. Dominators). Contrary to you, however, I very much liked the costumes and the fish pople's movements, I thought that the swimming scenes looked quite good (apart from the very visible wires of course XD).

Is this the first time that you're watching the Second Doctor's era?

Thanks so much for replying! This is the first time I've been able to watch all of the Second Doctor's stories in order. The last time I watched Doctor Who from beginning to end, it was when the reconstructions first started to appear and there were only a handful available, along with Troughton's complete stories.

It's heartbreaking to realize just how many of his episodes the BBC trashed.
