After watching the reconstruction of "The Smugglers" (with its poor and blurry Telesnaps) I decided to have a go at putting one together myself. I've actually completed the opening TARDIS scene - complete with fades and wipes - and it turned out really well! Now if only I can figure out how to add the existing clips... A lot of hard work but ( Read more... )

Like you I started watching him only recently, and like you I am a total convert - the original and (very nearly) the best. I will never get over my youthful admiration of Tom Baker, and Christopher Eccleston's amazing recreation of the role is also superb, but Hartnell got it all going in the first place, and did so in inimitable style.

Also my four-year-old daughter has a crush on him.

That's awesome! I think one of the reasons I enjoyed Christopher Eccleston's Doctor so much is because he had this wonderful Hartnell quality about him. I still miss Nine like crazy!

hooray for a reconstruction!

Download a program that lets you video edit? I've had success with Premiere Pro

Thanks so much for the heads up! I have some wonderful reconstructions that utilize the official BBC soundtracks (with narration) and I'd like to go that route as it does away with scrolling text describing the action.

Your icon is wonderful! That is THE most amazing picture of Frazer :)

Congratulations on the good results of reconstructing (or constructing a better recon, should I say!).

I'e reached "The Time Meddler", having started an every-episode-including-recons marathon in July. It's quite nice to finally put everything in context and also have a nice cmoplete row of Hartnell stories on DVD (I'm converting the VHS's as I go).

Sadly, my IT skills are pretty poor so I won't be matching any new snaps to soundtracks, it'll still be blur-o-vision for a while for me!

What are you using to convert your VHS to DVD? I'm going to have to invest in an external video capture device to transfer mine to the PC and then burn them onto DVD.

I plug my video player into my standalone DVD recorder with a SCART lead, though I did buy a Copymate Video Copy Enhancer from eBay which fits in-between and overcomes Macrovision on the BBC tapes and other DVDs if I play from another DVD player into a recorder.

It doesn't help for using a computer, of course - but it works for me! I'd love to be better at using editing software though, as once on DVD I can load it into my computer and tinker with it before re-saving to another DVD.
