Totally agree. There's an audio version as well, with linking narration by Peter Purves. As a bit of a fan of Dodo's I think this is her best story. And the novelisation is one of the great DW books.

I loved this one too - though I didn't like the song, but it didn't manage to get to me the way it seems to get to some people. But Steven gets called "Regret" the whole time! Dodo in a cowgirl costume! The OK Corral! It is so, so awesome. I miss the historicals whole bunches.

Thanks so much for replying! I adore "The Gunfighters", and I hope it'll get the lovely DVD treatment someday soon.

You know that Peter Haining needs a good swift kick for starting all that nonsense in the first place!

When I first saw this, the song went from amusing to annoying to silly. In the end I decided it was somewhat endearing if a bit overused.

I loved the fact that the Doctor introduced himself as Dr. Caligari. Lovely, that. And the ending of the second episode was indeed great. *points to icon*

I can't be as complimentary about the American accents, but I will admit they did the best they could. And although it's obvious it was all shot on a set, I love the fact that they used live horses for the outdoor scenes.

Yeah, it's an amusing little story, and it's supposed to be one of the "funny" ones. I'm just not too sure it succeeds.
