God, I love my city

I've always been a firm believer that how a person treats their own kids, or goes out of their way to be nice to my kids, speaks volumes about that person. That he would take time to do something as simple as push his kids on a swing speaks volumes for him. He'd have my vote regardless, but your ancedote makes me more content in my choice.

Me too. It may not seem logical, but I just know in my bones that someone who bothers to be nice to children will be nice to grown-ups. I can't think of a single time I've been wrong there, either.

That he would take time to do something as simple as push his kids on a swing speaks volumes for him.

According to a friend of mine who teaches at the school his older daughter attends, he usually makes it to chaperone field trips as well. His wife has a nine-to-five job, but Senators usually have a lot of out-of-office time and that's how he chooses to spend his. I'm sure some would grumble about using tax dollars for the airfare, but I LOVE that about him.
