Science fair project

Nov 20, 2006 21:28

My sixth grade daughter is doing her science fair project on handedness, specifically on whether a planned reliance on one one hand carries through to instinctual actions. She needs as large a data pool as possible, so I'm begging all you guys to take this and pimp far and wide. Thank you.

Thank you! Even the preliminary data looks interesting. She'll have to do a bit of research to figure it out. Yay science!

I had to actually do the arm-crossing and the finger-lacing to see what happened! Apparently, I am totally left-handed.

I had to them too, because I'd never thought about it before. It's an interesting question and I'm kind of proud of her for thinking of it. Thank you so much for taking the poll!

My mother tells me that I reached for everything with my left hand when I was a baby. Around two years old, I started to use my right hand. Other than writing and cutting food with a sharp knife, I tend to use both hands interchangeably. And I frequently cannot tell left from right when asked for directions ("Turn left. Left. Left. Left! The other left" *frantic pointing* happens a lot).

Go girls in science!

Interestingly enough, while I'm right-handed, have always been right handed and can't even begin to write with my left, when I make the universal "writing" gesture (you know, pretending to write in thin air) I ALWAYS make it with my left hand.
