TVD, TO (sort of) catch up post

Mar 25, 2014 12:59

So I've narrowed the amount I'm behind on these shows, and did some short reactions as I went along. I am, for the moment at least, down to a week behind (until there's new stuff, which I think there is tonight).

TVD 5x14 )

vampire diaries, reaction post, the originals

I just started watching TVD this year and I'm nearly caught up (I just saw 5x15) and I agree mostly except for your thoughts on Damon. I thought he was completely ridiculous in the beginning, but I think they've shown some interesting development. I didn't buy the woe Elena doesn't love me anymore I have no reason to NOT go on a murderous rampage thing. Whateva. Guess there needs to be drama.

I think I'm behind you on TO. I'll try to remember to come back and look when I've caught up!

I was never really a fan of Damon's, I don't really go for bad boys very often so there was little for me to latch on to there (but let's remember that I've never been a fan of Stefan's either), but by mid s3 I was completely over him. And then s4 made me wish violent death on him and s5 hasn't been much better...death still but maybe not the most horrible one imaginable like I wanted last year. And yeah, his development the last few episodes, since he went all murderous because woe is him Elena dumped him I've been bordering on going back to my s4 attitude, probably spared just because I don't care as much as I still did last season.

It's funny to take a trip back through my TVD tag, I used to find so much to love in it, but it fell apart pretty spectacularly over the last couple seasons.

It's probably pretty different to watch it all really fast. I probably watched almost a season a week (of what was on Netflix). I had to dl a several of them to catch up to what was on the CW app, and I've sped through most of S5 too.

I thought Damon was completely ridiculous in the beginning (glad they dispensed with that silly fog thing, though they made a nod to the crow thing later). Like I found his FACE ridiculous. But I was in board with Damon and Elena by the time they hooked up. I thought the way that relationship grew was really genuine. But now the drama seems pasteded on.

And yeah even watching it fast I've seen the quality go downhill. I genuinely loved it in the beginning. I loved the long game they played with plotlines and stuff. But it got over complicated and deaths didn't mean anything and it's a little too fractured now.

You know, once you get past the fog/raven era of Damon, I pretty much tolerated him until I stopped marathoning too, sp there might be something to that. Of course for me I was all caught up in mid s2 so there's a bit of a difference there. But yes, the fog and raven days are ridiculous, though I at least understand why they happened better having read the books.

You know, I think I liked that one...a lot really.

Yay. It was a good episode. They both were! I was too busy freaking out over Rebekah's departure to write many thoughts about 1x16, but I too loved the way it focused on the Original family and all their issues.

They were both pretty darn good episodes and 1x16 in particular really deserves further analysis that I'm not just not in the mood to give it at the moment. Really both of them probably do and we'll see when I get around to giving them a longer look at (at least not until I'm all the way caught up though).
