Peter and I just got back from spending a few days in Maine for our thirtieth anniversary. When we got to the waterfront inn, Peter wanted to close his eyes post-driving for a bit, while I left to smell the salt air and stretch. I definitely enjoy certain books because of the insight they bring not only into one or two characters but to humanity and its mysteries, as well.

Dear Jeannine - such loveliness in the world when you take the time to appreciate it. I want to tell the woman they don't need green pencils to draw those leaves! I love so much the idea of the tilting mirror and wonder how many mirrors are out there tilting that, in the mad busyness of life, I never see. Indeed, sometimes listeing is a "brief, taut holding on." Lovely. Thank you! xo
