My thoughts bore me too :D So much so that I've decided to not bother posting anything about the episode after all. I couldn't work up enough energy. Maybe next week.
Thanks for the numbers. Wow, Oliver was only on screen 15m? I thought they were at least 40! *yawns* I couldn't care less about him, his relationship with Tess, the Queen industries and so forth. The only Oliver-related storyline that I would like to see would be him deciding to make a fresh start somewhere else really far away from Metropolis. What a waste of time his storyline is! And now we are in for his redemption, his mentor, his sidekick, his becoming a hero? again... *yawns* (sorry; Oliver puts me to sleep and so did this episode)
Oh, and I wonder... is there a school somewhere where they can teach the SV characters to own up to their mistakes and to apologize for them before they go around berating other characters for theirs? They all could use a few lessons on that (well, all except Clark, who seems to be so fond of the ability that can't stop using and abusing it)
That SV writers' room seems to have the power of infecting every writer that steps in there with a virus called mediocrity.
Yeah, Oliver's scene felt endless, didn't they? Especially that one scene between him and Tess. But part of that is that I just don't think CF and JH have any chemistry at all.
And hey, here's something I learned at K-Site recently...its OK if a character doesn't apologize as long as we can tell, or think, they really feel bad. LMAO. Thats the way to own up and take responsibility. So, Oliver wallowing and being a dick is enough. Gotta love that shit.
I've always found the SV writing distressingly mediocre, which is one reason my eyeballs almost rolled out of my head when Souders/Peterson almost dislocated a shoulder patting themselves, and their writing staff, on the back for their stellar writing. Really?
I don't think you're too easy, or anything like that. Different eps appeal to different people. I still love Subterranean, for an example. And my 2 favs of last season were Instinct and Turbulence, which are probably not popular choices. My point being, we like what we like.
Next week, I feel certain we won't have 20m of Pretty Clark to keep us happy :(
I do think a lot of Tom/Clark always improves an ep.
I would think JH would LOVE the idea of doing all this drama. For a guy that started off as very press friendly, he sure seems to have adopted a more low key approach. Tom's influence?
To be honest, there was very little about it I really liked. I almost don't even know where to start to go into my issues with it. I mean, it wasn't horrible. But it just wasn't very good either. To me, it felt disjointed, dull, and much of it felt pointless. I also found the dialogue pretty awful, and our wonderful cast strangely flat.Ditto Val. I feel the same way. I was expecting alot more with a novel concept of having Clark be able to know what folks are thinking and learn a listen from it. But I really feel like the director Wayne Rose had no clue what kind of an episode he was directing and what kind of finished product he wanted. Was it suppose to be a yuck yuck episode or a deeply emotional episode where one man tumbles down the rabbit hole because of his conscious? Was it suppose to be a comedic turn on Clark and Lois stumbling towards getting together or was it suppose to give us insight into Lois's feelings/heart and but throw in some funny but endearing moments? Or was it suppose to be about Clark using his

You make some really great points about the directing. It was pretty terrible. I absolutely hated how that whole Clark/Oliver conversation was filmed. And lets be honest, how exactly was Tom supposed to play all these scenes of Clark listening in on thoughts, and make that interesting? He just kept squinting his eyes.
I guess, at the end of the day, I think this ep was a poor mesh of 2 very different storylines.
I do have to put some of the blame on BQM though, because I thought the dialogue was lacking.
I wouldn't generally say this, but yeah, Clark did get off easy at the end. And to me, thats not because he stood her up and should therefore suffer. For me, it was because Clark just seemed a little "Whatever" about it, ya know? I mean, if he was torn, or really disappointed, I certainly couldn't tell from the dialogue or the acting.
Good point Val about how Tom and the "listening to thoughts" scenes. Don't get me started about the Clark/Oliver conversation and more so how the whole Oliver standing on a pressure plate bomb supposed nail biter scene. Again the director bombed on the pacing and I was more bored then worried for Ollie. The only part I liked was Clark figuring things out. Then when they had their conversation I couldn't help but think that this was a perfect opportunity for 2 guys who went through a lot with the death of Jimmy (and Ollie and Lex) that they both decided to detach themselves from their lives and emotional attachments but in every different ways. Clark could have used his dark period as an example to show Ollie that you are not alone I understand but my father gave me the advice that you can't avoid loss but you need to face it and over come. I can't believe that BQM missed this since he's the story editor now too. *shakes head*

Here for the ST (not that I ignore your thoughts on the episode but there aren't any this week).
I know you don't want them posted at TWoP but is it ok to talk about them at my LJ with credit to you?
Thanks :)

Poor Justin Hartley doesn't seem to be giving interviews much this year...wonder if he's less than thrilled with his arc?
