I like Combat. I know Clark's attitude is not great in the beginning of the episode, but I like how its put together, and I LOVE the fight. The Lexana part though makes me see red. I've always been bothered by fandom's attitude towards what Lex did to Lana as though it was nothing (and yet Lana still loving Clark is a criminal offense). So not ( Read more... )

It is just beautiful. Its...dare I say?...flawless.

I have to admit, I'm not a big fan of the red pleather outfit. I just didn't think it was necessary, or added to the episode. I did think the Clois scenes in the ring were humorous.

Ya know, I like Lex, and I'm not a big Lana fan, but the situation is what it is, and Lana was terribly violated by Lex. He was WRONG! And it was not her fault that he did that to her. I don't condone how she vented her anger, but I sure do understand her anger.

I agree with all your comments on the episodes. I love Combat, and have rewatched it multiple times, as I have with Nemesis. Nemesis works for me because all the characters are (to my mind) firing on all cylinders, and perfectly in character - for good or ill.

It had never occurred to me to switch the Lynda Carter-Helen Slater casting, but you're absolutely right. That would have been genius. And it would have meant that we actually got a scene between our Wonder Woman and our Superman. That they had Lynda Carter on set, and didn't have even one line exchanged between her character and Clark was just... insane.

And yes. Lex doing that to Lana is simply unforgivable. No question in my mind, no looking back.

Combat is just fun for me. The fight is as good as anything SV has ever done before and since. Oh, and the guest star cracks me up. Talk about a nutty performance!

I thought, ultimately, Lynda Carter was wasted. And she and AM were not believable as mother/daughter, especially since we already saw the back of Chloe's very blonde mother. At least LC got some good scenes with MR.

I can see people trying to understand what Lex did, and why. We all fanwank for our favs. But I don't get the blaming Lana for what Lex did to her.

Great caps Val but my fav is the one from COMBAT with Clark's wild curly locks *grins* I liked COMBAT too and I like how both Clark and Lois were investigating separately and ended up in the exact same spot...oops! I loved the look on his face when he saw who he had to fight too. Oooh or how about when she wants him to hit her..lol. The fight sequence...I liked seeing Clark have to really use his powers and fight for all it was worth. I think whoever was in charge of this sequence should have done Doomsday ( ... )

Me too. Its a plotline they should use more often.

I think there's some element in our show that just thinks "Oh Cool, Stunt Casting!", but doesn't always think it through. And frankly, Helen Slater was so awful.
