Well, I am having a mix of residual excitement and being tired! I was glued to the TV for much of the afternoon, especially intrigued by Jimmy Carter's eulogy in which he shared the close relationship the two men and their mutual accomplishments, as well as honoring Ford's legacy to him from the White House. About 2/3's of the way through ( Read more... )

You said it well, Jean. He wasn´t a terribly brilliant politician but he was honest and dignified and I think that may have been more important.

I have to smile at you going into town. You just can´t sit still, can you?

Anderson Cooper was on a short advertisement for CNN this morning. He made a comment to this effect: In order to understand the world one needs to touch, smell, see in person what is going on. I guess that's me.....Up to a point I can be a distance observer, but then I just am compelled to touch, smell, see the big picture for MYSELF what it is all about. I don't always care to be in the very middle of the action, but at the edge of it so I can "get" it, but escape when needed! Wierd isn't it?! (Same way with quilts....I have to TOUCH!) And something always has gotten me about the presidential activites that take place in our city. I used to take my boys to all of it....now I go by myself!!!

Our family lived outside of Detroit for seven years. I hope it's OK to friemd. We have many fond memories of living and vacationing in Michigan! :)

Sure you can friend me, and I'll add yours to my list. To learn of me, you must have read comments from pondhopper's journal? I'm a wee bit older than pondhopper and some of the other friends of hers and mine. But I don't often think of age.....it's a friend thing that clicks mostly. You have lived all around the midwest! I am from South Bend orginally, then we lived in Michigan City for two years before coming to the Grand Rapids area where we have been for many years. Now we live east of Grand Rapids at the edge of a small village called Saranac. Sometimes I long to live where life is a bit more cosmopolitan and people are a little less "West-Michigan stodgy", but we can choose between GR, Lansing, and Chicago's not that far either.
