good news on the writing front

I have TWO stories on the short-list for Best Lesbian Erotica 2009. Since each story apparently has a 50% chance of getting into the actual book, I'm hoping that my 50% chance is doubled.  :)

This might help break my dry spell of writer's block disguised as too many other things to do. Having 2 stories on the short-list seems to continue a pattern. ( Read more... )

I'll cross my fingers for both your shortlisted stories.

I am intrigued with the all female Hamlet ... but can you give it a happy ending where they don't all die at the end? I wrote a missing erotica scene from Much Ado, but it was Benedic and Beatrice, so I don't think it would fly ... unless I revise it so Benedic is actually a woman masquerading as a man. Hmm.

Fingers are still crossed for you.

Did you see the movie "Shakespeare in Love"? The whole plot is unproven, but totally plausible. Gwyneth Paltrow plays the married Shakespeare's girlfriend & muse, Viola, who performs in his plays as a young male actor playing female roles (i.e. she's a woman playing a man playing a woman ( ... )

I saw Shakespeare in Love when it came out and enjoyed it. I always got a kick out of the genderbending in Shakespeare's plays, especially when we were taught about the custom of having young males play the female characters.

Much Ado was always my favourite of Shakespeare's plays (King Lear is a close second) - and I think it is the banter between Benedic and Beatrice that makes it such a wonderful play. I had considered (and am now considering again) a story with Olivia and Viola. Your women disguised as men who are playing women ... has a definite Shakespearean flavour to it. The hell with horny readers ... I'm sure it would make a fun story.
