For my typography IV class I have to make a book using a band/musician or a poet.

i'm thinking of using Rilo Kiley, BUT only using self titled & take off's, nothing past that. i don't want to deal with shitheads telling me oh "portions of foxes"...i would have done this/i loooooove that song... blah blah blah. music snob or not, it kind of makes ( Read more... )

oh yeah, if i choose a band/musician, i use their lyrics.
if i use a poet i use their poems.

with emphasis on typography, i have to construct a book with the feel of whatever type of music i choose.

So you're just lifting the lyrics directly, not interpreting them, right? And I suppose it's your job to design the font that captures the essence of each song?

right, direct lyrics

color scheme, paper/medium (some people have semn their lyrics on fabric! for their books)

the book as a whole has to capture the essence of the songs as a whole...so if i chose rilo kiley let's say i would pick their more moody songs of the two albums and use them , or in the man who i would leave out a few songs to stick with the melancholy theme

that's what i know for sure, i want to be elegantly sad

it was so crazy when I was in Utah and saw Rilo Kiley on MTV. I was like "huh? I remember when Blake gave me a shoutout during a song!" Those were the days!
